I’m a piano teacher and a classical pianist. I’m passionate about classical music. I won an online piano competition “Rizoma Piano Online Competition” in 2nd place.
My thoughts about classical music: Classical music should be played and preserved forever. I want to encourage and show people how amazing classical music can be. There’s always a story behind classical music. I want to explain to people and my students the story behind a classical music piece.
When I think about mental health, I think of Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 2. After the failure of Rachmaninoff’s First Symphony premiere, he went through depression and didn’t compose music for three years. He went through therapy and eventually gained his confidence back again. At the end, he wrote Piano Concerto No. 2, which is dedicated to his therapist who helped Rachmaninoff go through darkness and come back to the light.
That is one of the stories behind a classical music piece. I also want to share this story with students. This way, students not only learn to play a piece but also feel empathy toward the piece.
